I am running a Netware 4.11 server for files sharing (I run a manufacturing database software also). I also have 16 workstations running Windows 9x and 2000 Pro. My server has been up approx. 168 days since the last restart. I am using the build in CPQNF3 NIC driver, the server is a Compaq Prosignia model. I noticed that under the driver stats I have:
Checksum Errors = 21,727
Network Link Status = 1Is a checksum error that large normal for a small LAN such as the one I have setup? Also, the network link status, the options are 0 = Up or 1 = Down. I have not noticed any problems logging into the server from any workstation, so what does Network Link Status mean exactly?
Under the Cache Utilization Stats I have:
Short Term cache Hits = 100%
Short term dirty cache hits = 100%
Long term cache hits = 99%
Long term dirty cache hits = 98%Are the above readings normal for a setup like I have?
I have the server connect to a switch, and from that main switch I have hubs (4 total) connected to it and from the hubs I have workstations. I will be replacing the hubs with workgroup switches soon, in order to improve performance over the network. What settings should I consider when optimizing for the best performance in Netware 4.11?

I don't remember much about the Prosignia series, but does it come with a built-in NIC? If so, is there a PCI NIC card? I'm thinking you might have one link working perfectly and one with no card in it, continuously polling to no avail . . .

Hello,
Im not sure about the NIC settings but your
Cache Utilization is perfect. This means that the server is finding #% of things in cache instead of going to the hard drive for them.
