I am using a 3.12 novell server to run a POS system. The POS stations
connect to the server by booting from a DOS floppoy drive. I am trying to
connect a new computer to the system. The problem I am having is that when
the system boots and connects to the server, it appears as though the
serial ports are not working or recognized. I have a touch screen monitor
a\that connects via a serial port and the system is unable to find it
during boot. The monitor it self works but The serial port is what adds
the touch screen capibility and that does not work.Is there some configuration file i am not editing that would allow the
serial portd to work..I'm very new to working on Novell and am learning this piece by piece as I
go.Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.
I am planning on trying a different computer to see if that is the problem.
Thanks,
M. Breidenbaugh

You can try to add the following line to your autoexec.bat, to set the parameters for your serial port at startup.
MODE COMx BAUD=b PARITY=p DATA=d STOP=s
where:
x is 1, 2, 3 or 4 (depends on what port you're using)
b is 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200 uso. (depends on what you need for the touchscreen)
p is 0 or1 patity bits
d is data bits, normally 8
s is stop bits, if neededPaul
