I have a new Dell 600 with perc 3 raid controller. I am currently running nw6 on pent3. How can I set up raid and transfer data from old server. Must I first install nw6 and then migrate or can I use a copy program to copy nw6 and data to new server? Thanks

Couple of issues: you setup hardware raid with the perc controller. then you install nw6. You have to bring it up as a test server. You backup all your data from the present server. You go into Nwadmin and remove the old server and add the new server in under the old servers name. If this is the only server I am not sure of the consequences since my migrations have happened with multiserver setups. Someone had to house nds and contain the partition. Ever thought of adding a server? Then move your data.

As wanderer said, you first set up RAID for the perc using tools from Dell's CD, then install NW6. You used the word 'migrate', so I assume that you are planning to use Novell's Migration Wizard. Excellent choice. It will transfer data, NDS, rights, etc for you. You can chose which portions of data to copy, and what new volumes to put it on. No need to do any manual copying. Don't try to just copy SYS volume from old server, as the new hardware requires different drivers, and it won't load properly.
