Subject: Problem-ARCServeIT6.6 - restore OS: Netware 5/Windows XP CPU/Ram: 233/64

Comment: Hello, Some time ago we was running netware 5 on a server in our office - this allowed the staff to file share, and print. We have since changed the file serving to a linux server but still use the netware server for print services. One of the reasons we changed servers was due to the backup not working properly in the latter stages before we changed it. During the file copy process an important folder was deleted some how. I know the folder is backed up on a tape from months ago so I set another server up, gave it a different server name, tree and context to the original server which is still acting as a print server. I then loaded arcserveIT 6.6 on the server and the manager on my windows XP machine. If I go into the arcserve manager it finds the tape but says it's blank... I know this isn't true. I since tried copying the database directory from the original server back to the new one and now it recognises the session but still won't find the info on the tape, in fact I've tried about 6/7 tapes..... I was told that you need to catalog/inventory the tape before you can restore on a new server but I cannot find this function anywhere within ARCserverIT 6.6??? Can anybody help me with this? I will be most appreciated. Thanks DB

Reply: (edit)It has been a long time since I used AS6.6 so I am rusty on the Interface however I do remember that the process is called 'merge' the tape. Look in help and you will find the answer.
