Hi i have installed Novell 4.83 SP1 onto my computer with XP. I can only login to the network through the client if the network cable has been plugged whilst the computer is off.

If the computer is on and i insert the cable i cannot connect to the network but it does allow me to connect to the internet.

It is definately not a faulty cable, it is annoying as i have to restart my computer everytime i want to login.

Can anyone help with this problem

Are you using static or DHCP for the IP?

Why are you unplugging your network cable in the first place?
