a Server with 3.12 novell netware returns to 1st Jan 1998 after each reboot.
how novell could be forced to read date/clock from its internal PC clock?

check your bios date. To my knowledge netware does look at the pc's clock unless you have a time server on the network and its pointed to it. sounds like you need a new cmos battery or you have a bad clock.

wanderer,
tanx for the input,
actually the server clock and date works well in DOS enviro, issues come up when server.exe is executed and novell starts.
I don't know where tha time server may be and how can It be cancelled...

Nozar,
The timeserver concept will be coming only when you have multiple Servers in your Network and you want all the Servers time to be in Synch.
Something like all the Server's getting time from one. Need not be in a Multi-server env, it can be even from an external time source.
Anyway leave it, that may not be your problem.
Might look silly, still try to start the server with the options -NA and -NS i.e. Boot only to DOS, go to C:\NWSERVER, type "C:\NWSERVER> server -na -ns". This will bypass the execution of Autoexec.ncf and startup.ncf (startup files of NetWare Server). If the time doesn't get affected, then it might be that any of the command in these 2 files are changing the time.
I don't see any other possibilities...
