I have a laptop which has novell and am trying to connect up an desktop which has xp. they are currently connected through a hub. i ran the network setup process, and gave them all the same workgroup name. they can ping each other, but they don't see each other. i set up the harddrives so that they can share, but it doesn't happen. the desktop can see itself, but it doesn't see the laptop, but the laptop doesn't see either of them. any help would be appreciated. thanks

the fact that the laptop has the netware client in addition to the microsoft client has nothing to do with your issues.
Look at the how to section here. You need to make sure you are physically connected [using a crossover cable or a hub and patch cables] that you can ping each other [this makes sure tcp/ip is working and that you are in the same workgroup.
