Can someone please help me! I'm new to novell. I am trying to install the server on a compaq 333MHz with 64MB RAM. Everything went well, but I can't get the NIC installed. The NIC that I am using is an Compaq N3121 Fast Ethernet Adapter. I obtained the latest from the manufacturer for Netware. When I try to install it, I get: Server-4.11-1586: Loader cannot find public symbol: (here, there are several public symbols that are listed) I looked on intel's site because my NIC has an intel chipset, and they said to update the NLM's. I don't know how to do that if I can't log into my sys volume from another computer -- I can't connect because I have no NIC installed!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, you're installing 4.11, which means the NLM's on the install CD are about 10 years old, and don't support the NIC you have. I would try one of two things, depending on what I had access to.
1. Go to my junk parts box, find an old 10BaseT NIC (3c503, Etherworks II, etc), install this and get the server connected. Then install service pack 9 from the workstation to update NLMs to current, and re-install the N3121.
2. Download service pack 9, unpack it and burn the whole thing on a CD. Go to the server console, mount the CD and install the service pack locally. Then re-install the NIC.
Either should get you going again.
Hope this helps
