Hi, Please note our Novell server 4.11 hangs very often at night time and user are not allowed to log-in.alt+esc key not work to down the server ,only way is to power off and power on again. please advice if any idea. thanks and rgds OCT

It sounds as if you have a corrupted nlm on the server. The best way around this problem is to define protected memory space on your server. You would load the various programs on your server, including the server kernel, into protected space in memory in order to determine if you have a bad nlm in there. Usually it's a third-party nlm, too. Do you have any programs not written by Novell running on the server? If so, I would look there first for the cause of the problem.

Try first to unload Norton Anti-virus. If is Ok, try to update NAV engine. Try also to apply Nw4 Sp9. If hang try the keystroke 'Alt-Shift Left-Shift Right-Esc' to enter in debug mode. After type q ( quit ) to return to DOS. If you do not enter in debug mode, check for hardware problem ( often bad memory ).
