Hi to all technogeeks out there.
This one is interesting. I am working for computer consultant shop here.
Recently we sat up networking using twisted pair Cat 5 cable using two hubs for one company. Before we started to set up, the company had 9 workstations and 1 server all connected using Novell Netware 3.1 (Groupwise) using coaxial cable.
After doing all the cabling, the hubs detected all the computers. However, we are unable to connect to the network. When I switch on one of the client computer and try to go through Novell netware login window, it asks for username and password so I type it and it gives a message saying 'A tree or server cannot be found'.
PLEASE HELP and in return I will give you my blessings.
Thank-you
Neo

in netware 3.1 u have not atree u have abindary .
to connect to novell u have to choose connect to bindary servergood luck
golan

becuse you change from 802.3 to 802.2
you need to add the protocol to the server.
change in the cliet the file net.cfg
to frame type 802.3
danny.

Dubbel check your cables and conections.
and a 802.3 and 802.2 protocol can be used by coaxial and utp conections.

To summarize above:
You need to make sure you are using the same frame type as the server. All clients need to be on the same frame type.
Obviously, you need to be running IPX.
You need to make sure you are doing bindery log ins.
And just in case - two hubs can only be connected to one another through the cascade port or by a cross over cable (or the uplink port)
Eliminate some variables - that's how all problems get solved.
