Subject: Novell netware login on Windows XP OS: Windows XP Pro/ Novell Ne CPU/Ram: Dunno

Comment: I am having trouble getting WinXP to login to windows using a guest account while logging into Novell with a different username. Background: The systems are running in a school, and I am the Network administrator (Yr11 Student). We have just upgraded some of the systems to Windows XP Pro, and when students login to novell, it tries to make the student login to windows as well. Since setting up each user on each mechine would take a lot of disk space, We want to use a single guest account on the windows machines, and have them log on to the novell server using their own username, mapping their files to h: drive. Any help would be appreciated

Reply: (edit)I had the same problem and i fixed that. But i have some problem to write the erverything down. But i will try. First i need some info. Do you use Zenworks? How large is de hdd capacity of your Novell server? Did you search in the knowledge base of Novell? Do you use NDS or a BINDERY? (most important question) it is possible to login with Novell using your own name and under the gastaccount of Windows Xp and get a mapping to H:\ If you can answer that i am able to help you.

Reply: (edit)Try using either dynamic local user (dlu) or follow the directions here: Try this URL: http://support.novell.com/servlet/tidfinder/10052847 Not sure what happened when I did it, but I also had to do this: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/tips/march/knox1.asp HTH Doug

Reply: (edit)USe the Novell Client. It has seperate tabs for Windows and Netware login. Set Netware to the desired user, and set the Windos login to GUest.
