So, I just bought a computer off craigslist about thirty minutes ago. It looked brand new and I trusted the guy (dont by the way)...he said he got it for his girlfriend then they broke up. It didn't even look like it had been outta the box. I hooked it all up and was hit with the Novell login client. The guy wont answer my calls and I can't use the computer at this point!!! Did I just waste 400 dollars or is there a solution?

Now i find it strange this guy said it was his girlfriends because she would have novell on her computer if it was for home use. Usually business use this but rarely anymore. So who knows where this computer came from.
Your not out money but if you can't get pass the login then you might have to reload windows. When the novell client comes up there should be a check box that says "Workstation Only" If you check it then it will want the local workstations username and password. So if you have that it will work. Now if you don't just try hitting enter and see if it's a blank password.
If that doesn't work you might have to reload windows back on it.

THATS WHAT I SAID! I was like...why on earth would this thing have Novell on it unless it was for like a business or something....if this thing is stolen, and I put a new Microsoft XP or Vista on it, am I gonna have like the police swarming my house!!! Guhhhhh....craigslist scares me = (

If there is a Novell Client installed on Windows XP,
simply click the Workstation only checkbox and login to the local Windows.
Then you can uninstall the novell client, by control panel / software add/remove.Please send a reply, if you solved the problem !!!
