Hello

I find it is very slow even at startup, when login it takes 2mins or 3mins
to be fully loaded (it sticks with the login screen after typed userid or password)

Even in Win98, it's very fast

the XP PC is already 2.8GB CPU and 256MB RAM
is there any way to speed it up or my mis-configuration? Thanks

There are some points to check and to decide why there is the slow login problem:
1. Check and adjust "name resolution" as described at: http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10090137.htm
2. Another option is that slow login is because of NMAS components. To fix this problem install SP2 for client 4.9 or workaround as described in: http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10089344.htm

You might also try using the service pack for client version 4.9. Technically, the client version with XP should be 4.9 sp 2
