HI,

I am having Novell 4.11 Server & want to upgrade the hardware & reinstall Novell OS in new hard disk.
I want to take backup of all my user settings (name/passwords/rights etc), printer settings & other system configurations & restore it all in new server.
Is there any command/procedure to accomplish the above task as manually it will be very tedious to re-create all the users & other settings.

The Link mentions how to migrate from ver 3 or 4 to higher version 5.1. There is some Upgrade wizard tool in ver 5.1 which will back up bindery & data.

But don't want to upgrade. I want to keep my existing version 4.12 and install same version in new server. Is there any command/tool to backup & restore the bindery.
I found novell command sbackup which backs up nds but it requires tape drive to be connected to take backup. & I don't have access to any tape drive as they are now outdated.

So you have to use the command SYS:\SYSTEM\BINDFIX.exe.
BINDFIX checks the bindery for errors and repairs the errors if any is found.
So you should run it twice, to get a good, errorfree backup of your bindery.
The backup of the bindery is stored in SYS:\SYSTEM\*.OLD.

Copy these files to the new servers SYS:\SYSTEM folder and run SYS:\SYSTEM\BINDREST.exe to restore the bindery.

If you want to backup the files and folders, you also have to save the trustee rights of the files and folders !!!
!!! This is not done by BINDFIX.exe or BINDREST.exe !!!

Please send a reply, if you solved the problem !!!
