Reply: (edit)Backupexec from VERITAS It is not that pricey and run very stable on all my Novell and NT servers. I am currently running ver. 8.0 on 4.11 and 8.5 on my 5.1 servers. http://www.veritas.com/us/products/backupexec

Reply: (edit)Arcserve is a good product. First check your Netware service pack level. You might want to get it up to at least sp6. Then go to cheyenne.com and download the service pack's for arcserve . I have used arcserve for Years and have had no Problems. You can also rename your arcserve directory and reload it. Then take one of your good backups and merge the tape .

Reply: (edit)I tried Veritas and it also was a huge problem on server. Purchased ArcServe 7 for Novell NetWare 4.2, with version 9 update. Have updated ArcServe with patches. Using a ALR 9200 with a SCSI tape backup. Finds tape, finds card, loads nlms, but when try to backup server, process keeps running for backup forever. If try to stop from remote location, doesn't do anything. If log on from remote, have to unload tape server and scheduler, then type astop. Doing this will hang the machine. Also, RAID 5 is installed on adapter - ADAC Ultra2. Have tried to contact support for ArcServe with no success. What can I do now?

Reply: (edit)I would check to make sure Arcserve is looking for the generic aspi scsi driver and not hardcoded to your particular tape drive. I have found it to be much easier to manage and reliable that way. Les
