Comment:

We purchased a dell laptop with XP Pro SP1 and set it up to connect to our Novell server. It worked fine for the first few days and then semmed to get intermittent. One moment you could browse the server folders, then it was inaccesible, and then a few seconds later it worked again. We checked all the networking components and they all seemed fine. We reinstalled the netware client again and no difference. The internet conenction has always been fine, so we do not suspect the network card. Has anyone seen this problem?

Check your server console and the sys error log to verify that your server connection licensing is working correctly. If you don't have enough Novell client licences or NLS thinks you don't then you may see these types of problems.

Good luck :)

Make sure you have the NWClient 483sp2 installed first, this patch fixed some speed issues.

After rebooting check this registry entry.
should match the one below:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetwareWorkstation\NetworkProvider, change the string value for DeviceName from
\Device\NetwareWorkstation to
\Device\NetwareRedirector. Reboot and
your good to go.

Wait time has went from 10-20 seconds to practically zero.
