Hi

We have a problem....

Novel 6.5
clients XP pro sp2

This problem on only happens on machines with sp2....wich we have on all clients...( tested with out)

A user logs on....no problem....the user logs off and closes the machine...if someone starts up the machine within ca 20 mins after he/she can log on but with several errors.
and nothing is mapped proper.
If the machine is down for ca 20 min a new user can log on again no problem.

BUT
When a user just loggs off a new user can logg on proper directly after...not 100% of the time but most of the time.

So it seems like we get this problem when someon shuts down the machine...

it feels like there is some sort of connection that dont shut down.. so when the next one tries it cant log on right

anyone else had a simular problem?
any sugestions were to look
what...????

feels like we tried everything

heeelp.....

I'll try this again. I might be sending this twice. We had about the same problem but I'm not sure if it's exact. We also use Zenwork with novell which I think cause part of our problem. Anyway, what we did was: Right click on the N on the task bar and go to the novell client properties. Under the properties, click on the advance settings tab. Highlight 'bad address cache timeout' and change the setting from 300 to 0. Then highlight the 'Bad server name cache enabled' and change the setting to off. Then highlight the 'Bad server name cache timeout' and change that from 300 to 0. Reboot and pray for the best. Before we did this, we couldn't get a computer to map it's drives without rebooting several times. Afterwards, no problems at all. Good luck.
