Server runs novell 4.11. An Intel 850 processor with 256 meg memory. During heavy usage, server reboots. Is this a software or hardware problem? Could it be a netware card going out or a scsi card failure to handle the load? Only 54 work stations out of 100 on at any given time.

first of all, you should check that server reboots in dos version or not. (by avoiding server.exe ).if it doesn't then it is software problem. and if reboots in dos also, pl. check the voltage of server's battery.and it is hardware problem.
Thats correct, it only reboots will running network software. Thats after novell loads up, of course. When you say battery, your referring to the CMOS battery? If so, I'll replace it. Server runs all the time. Downed only once a month if at all. Been running fine for 4.5 years

Hi. with reboot you mean you have abend set to auto restart. Wich means if you could check in the abend.log file on sys:system to see what it says. if this is empty then you have hardware problems. Yuo could send the abend.log file to me and i will look at it.
