I installed a new novell 4.11 server. I encountered several problems regarding the built in realtek lan card and with the 200GB sata hard drive but i already solved it by updating some files located on novell's website.
All bind and load commands regarding the ipx protocol are all automatially setup.
Part of the autoexec.ncf
...
Load RtgbSRV slot = 10013 frame = ethernet_802.2 name = RtgbSRV_1_E82
bind ipx to RtgbSRV_1_E82 net = (novell assigned a number)
Load RtgbSRV slot = 10013 frame = ethernet_802.3 name = RtgbSRV_1_E83
bind ipx to RtgbSRV_1_E83 net = (novell assigned a number)
...The server is now up and running without showing any problems on the console. The problem is that no client can connect to it. Cables and hubs are all ok. All clients have the ipx protocol installed.
Im running win98 as a client and i can see and can communicate to all the win95/98 workstation on my network neighborhood but when i look at the netware servers folder theres nothing in there. I can't see the server name.
I tried connecting a pci lan card and disabled(bios) the realtek built in lan card. Novell automatically detected the pci lan card and installed the necessary load and bind commands in the autoexec.ncf but still the network can't see the server.
Processor: Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz dual core
Memory: 1 Ghz DDR2
Mboard: MSI 945g intel chipset built in audio/video/lan
Harddrive: Seagate 200G Sata
Lan Card: RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet
I hope you guys can help me (sigh!)

try binding a different kind of Ethernet. Default for TCP/IP is Ethernet II. Replace the "frame=" argument with
Frame = ETHERNET_II
There are actually 4 kinds of Ethernet protocol, although one of them, Ethernet Raw, was only used for Netware 3.11 and earlier. Nowadays only Ethernet II is widespread, although Ethernet_SNAP has a few specific uses.
Then, make sure that the Windows clients have IPX/SPX loaded.

oops, sorry, you've checked IPX/SPX on the clients already.

i already solved the problem after installing and reinstalling the server lots of times.
What i did was i delete and create a fresh hd partition and reinstall a new copy of the novell 4.11 server and disable the built in lan card and used an old pci lan card.
Maybe the culprit is the nlms of the realtek rtl8169 lan card. im not sure about it but it works when i didnt installed the driver of that lan card.

the latest chipsets in NIC's are heavily optimized for TCP/IP anyways. If you're running IPX/SPX, it's better to use an older card, not within the last 2 years definitely.
