Hey all,
I'm upgrading a Novell 4.0 server to 4.1 and I'm having trouble getting the
NIC drivers to load and work. The server had a 3Com Etherlink II card in it
and I'm trying to install a Netgear card (downloaded the new driver), but after all the driver-loading
finishes I get the following errors:Server-4.10-1586: Loader cannot find public symbol: MSMRdConfigSpace32
Server-4.10-1586: Loader cannot find public symbol: MSMRdConfigSpace8
Server-4.10-1586: Loader cannot find public symbol: MSMWrtConfigSpace32
Server-4.10-1586: Loader cannot find public symbol: MSMWrtConfigSpace16
Server-4.10-1586: Loader cannot find public symbol: MSMWrtConfigSpace8
Server-4.10-1586: Loader cannot find public symbol: MSMScanBusInfo
Server-4.10-1586: Loader cannot find public symbol: MSMSearchAdapter
Server-4.10-1548: Load file referenced undefined public variable
Module NGRPCI.LAN NOT loadedDo I need to do some "pre-installation configuration" of some public
symbols? If so, where and how? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Public symbol error are indicators of incompatible files. You have to install the latest patches for NW4.1. Go to www.support.novell.com and querry 'minimum patch'.

I have been through that process before, the problem is Netware 4.10 doesn't have support for the PCI sockets. You will need to download the file from the novell website found at this link:
http://support.novell.com/servlet/filedownload/pub/landr9.exe
Make sure you down the server after applying the patch or it will not work until the next down time. Then bring it back up and try installing the network board again. If it still doesn't work try installing the Novell 4.10 patch kit 8 if you havn't already found at this link:
http://support.novell.com/servlet/filedownload/pub/410pt8b.exe
If you have anymore questions about installing the network board feel free to email me.
Cheers, Julian.
