Overnight, an entire area, almost 20 PCs or more,
are suddenly getting (halfway upon bootup) the
following message (the DOS banner type Novell
alert):NetWare Alert Message
NCP called NiosFree with an invalid/corrupted or
already free memory block E8790B48In the top right hand corner it has a error ID of
NIOS-202-179I have also seen other, but similar, variations.
Another PC suddenly was getting:
Abend Messsage
An installed VxD module at C007CBDB attempted
to access an undefined NLM function
(CNWIpxGetSocketInfo).NIOS-202-86
This came on suddenly. People reported that on
Friday everything was fine. What is even worse, is that sometimes when
printing to a Novell print queue, or running
various programs on the local hard drive (it's
pretty random) - there will suddenly be two beeps
(dee-dah) and the entire screen will go black.
The machine will either sit there totally black (you
can't do anything but move the mouse, not even
CTRL-ALT-DEL) or one machine actually
rebooted. Another, the mouse would not even
respond. What the hell happened??? Various other PCs
throughout the LAN (about 5 in total) reported the
same thing. But it was mainly concentrated to
one section.Gads!!!! I've scoured the internet - found a
couple people out there posting messages about
it, but no real data or resolution. Thanks!!
Mike

I forgot to mention, these clients are Win98, not
sure on the NW client version, connecting to
primarily NW 4.x and 5.x servers.Mike
