Good morning everyone. Before a few weeks ago, I had never so much as touched a Novell machine, client or server. After taking a new job, I now work in an environment consisting of both NT/2000 and NetWare 6.5 servers. As such, I need to ramp up on Novell.

I thought I’d start by building a small (and I mean small) test network; one 6.5 server, one XP client. Installations of both the server and client went perfectly. However, being new to ConsoleOne (and iManager for that matter), I haven’t been able to get the two to communicate. For lack of knowing a better way to say it, I’m not sure how to add the client to the test domain.

I’ve surfed Novell’s support and Cool Solutions sites and Googled the internet, but everything I’ve seen is geared more towards intermediate users at the very lowest. Does anyone know of a good article or website which illustrates how to setup a small Novell network?

Many thanks. J.B.

Have you installed Novell client for windows on the windows xp workstation? If you have, you should see the novell login window after you start your workstation. If not, check the ip address and ipx settings on novell server using inetcfg command, and the xp workstation as well.
