network printer in novell

I am new to the whole novell thing. I am trying to configure a network printer in a Novell network. The printer is a HP 4600 color laserjet. I installed the Jetdirect card. Our router assigns Dynamic IP's. The problem is that with this network printer, it always is assigned a different IP, making it impossible to network to it from our workstations. What do I have to do to assign the printer a static ip? HELP PLEASE!

Hi Scott To assign a fixed ip address to an HP jet direct card you can do one of these things: 1.Go to the HP web site and download the Web JetAdmin software. This software helps to configure and manage HP printers containing the jetdirect card. 2.Print the printer's test page, look for the ip address, open a web browser and go to the web page http://aa.bb.cc.dd (where aa.bb.cc.dd means the ip address your printer pulled from the dhcp server). Now you can go into the NETWORKING section and assign the printer a fixed ip. (Of course, now you should change the address of the web page to go back to the printer's page and continue to configure it. All new jetdirect card are containing a web server so there is always a way to go and configure the printer. Good luck
