netware 4.2 logging in problems!

Hi. i'm running a netware 4.2 server. up to now there has been no problems, but all of a sudden no one can log into in under 25 minutes!! the hard disk is also constantly going and making a racket and i have no idea what the problem is. Its definitely NOt the network point but could it be the card or another fault? any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers
