Trying to install new w/s on existing network. Installed latest Novell WinXP client (4.23?). W/S can "see" the network, including folders/files, etc. but cannot:
1. Map network drive (can't authenticate)
2. Execute any .exe
3. Execute previous user login script
but can:
1. Open .TXT files
2. Delete junk filesAny suggestions? Also are any previous patches for NW4.11 available? Support Pack 8, for instance.
TIA

You telling me that without authenicating to the network you can see 's and files on the Server? And your ONLY using the Netware Client to try and make the connection to the Server?
The latest NW Client for XP is 4.83 with a SP1 and also a beta Post Product update for 4.83w/SP1. And I would only apply the beta if I was having major problems with 4.83w/SP1.

I have installed 4.83 w/SP1 but not the Post Product beta update, although I have downloaded it just in case.

That's what seems to be the case. That's why a drive map request fails, I think. The server's console screen shows the connection as "logged in" but the connection # is not authenticated. Very strange indeed. Is it possible that Netware 4.11 requires SP8 (which I can't seem to locate for download at Novell's site)?

You're server is out of licenses. Try shutting down a known good workstation and rebooting the new workstation. It should work. You might also have account restrictions setup. If a user account is set to only log in to one workstation, you'll get similar symptoms. I struggled through a problem like this for 2 days.
Good Luck
RUX
