Hi.
I have a Netware network with 20 4.11 server on the same NDS. Everything work fine 'till last week. I've got to install a Netware 5.1 server for test purpose on a separate NDS but on the same subnet. Everything work fine on friday but on monday morning every station on the network can only see the NDS of the NW 5.1 test server. The station under NT or W2K can log but does'nt see the old tree. For the W9x station (about 80% of station) can't logging and can't see the old tree. On the server console, I've got lots of claims but every server are on the proper subnet. I check with the network guys and they confirm that the switch are properly configure and no change was made in the week-end.
The NDS version on the prod tree are 6.09 (don't ask me why, management decision) and the test tree are in version 8.

Have you applied the latest service packs to the servers? NW4.11 should be SP9 and NW5.1 should be SP4. Also since you already have eDirectory, NDS8, I would consider moving up to eDir 8.6.2 which can be downloaded for free from Novell. Another thing you may want to look at is the connection preference on the client workstations. Is this set to IPX or IP? What about DNS settings as well. Are all of the servers sys:etc\hosts files up to date? Hope this helps...

I ran into this problem with a client of mine. As it turns out the made there new tree and old tree the same name. so only the newer tree was seen. Also if you run sp9 or better on your netware 4 servers you can run the netware 4 servers in the same tree.
