I have a Dell Optiplex GX240 P4, 20GB hard drive, 256MB ram, using a Kingston NIC card. How do I get Netware 3.12 to create partition tables greater than 8GB? I’m using MS-DOS FAT16, I created the primary partition of 2GB using fdisk. I then installed Novell Netware 3.12. I get to creating the Netware partition table, it only sees 6GB. I then tried Windows 98SE FAT32. I created the primary partition of 2GB using fdisk. I get to the Create Partition Tables, now it sees 8GB, not recognizing the FAT32. I create it anyways. I re-boot, it now comes up invalid partition table. I checked Novell’s knowledgebase and products updates, it seems that they don’t have any updated INSTALL.NLMs to take care of this problem. Are there any third-party files out there to take care of this problem? Or any other help would be appreciated. Maybe I’m missing something. It’s been awhile since I built a Netware 3.12. Back then they only had 850MB hard drives, circa 1991. Help!!!
Thanks

Here is a link for installing NW 3.12. I beleive the problem may be in the way you are running Fdisk on the HDD. You only need to run Fdisk to create the DOS partition and make it active. Then you would format drive C: to make it bootable (if you are going to boot the Server from the HDD instead of from a floppy. Don't Fdisk any other partitions, Netware will take care of that. And don't forget about the 8gig HDD limitation that you might have on the box you are using as the Server. This limitation deals with your BIOS.

hi joopdog,
There is 100 % solution for your problem.
But u have not mentioned, whether ur hard disk is SCSI or IDE. for IDE it accept up to 8GB only. we have to load pathces and update IDE drivers in netware 3.12. site name is
http://support.novell.com . download the patches for netware 3.12. filename:312ptd.exe
for ide patches, filename:nwpaup1a.exe
hint:go the support.novell.com and search the above .exe files in knowledgebase. first you have to update the patches, before updating ide NLM's.first u create the netware partition, sys volume. update the netware patches(312ptd.exe)then u unload isadisk.dsk and follow the steps which are mentioned in the help text which are mentioned along with the patches.
