Hello, does anyone know how I can read the netware filesystem from within Windows. Please, this is such a simple thing (I can do the same with EXT3/EXT2 with ease). But for my somewhat outdated system there seems to be no answer :(
:) HELP MUCH APPRECIATED... :)

hi psycode - forgive me if this answer is a bit long-winded, but i have to give some background.
Windows cannot read the Novell Netware file system. However, it isn't supposed to. More specifically, in no cases should you have a Netware formatted drive attached locally to a Windows machine. Instead, Netware disks are accessed via the network. Windows just needs networking software and a Netware client. Unlike Linux or Windows, Netware is a server operating system. The format of the disks is a technicality; practically, the files are always accessed via clients on the network.
Once the request for a file reaches the netware server, then Netware handles its own local file system format.
So, if you want to mount a network drive to a Novell 4.1 server, then your question is about having the right networking software. This is basically two things:
1. a Novell client (the M$ client for Novell should work too, but best to use the Novell client.)
download at: http://download.novell.com/SummaryF...
2. a protocol used by your netware server.
now, Netware 4.1 will very likely use IPX/SPX. If so, you need to install the IPX/SPX protocol in your XP workstation to talk the same language as the 4.1 server. (Arguably a better solution is to convert the 4.1 server to TCP/IP)
Just install the client from the site i mentioned and choose IPX/SPX as the protocol in the wizard installation.
