Hi:
We have a dozen lap top users(Win 98) . They dial into an NT 4 RAS Server and maps drives to a Novell Server on the same network. An M drive to the mSMAIl directory and a G drive to the user's home directory.
This drive mapping process is so inconsistent.
We tried using login scripts in the NT server as well as the Novell server to get the drives mapped. The login scripts do not execute always. Some times they run..sometimes they do not.
THen we tried mapping the drives after connecting to the network. (Using explorer, identified the novell server, mapped the drive as needed)It works , but again, the next time you logon, theyre is no guarantee that it will work again.
This is extremely frustrating to the user as well as we MIS guys.
Has anyone had this problem before? What is the best mechanism to sort thisissue, so that it remain consistent?
Thank you in advance
Mathew

I used the microsoft net use command line on
the laptops and created a batch file using
the above. Then I created a shortcut on the
desktop to run the batch file to map the drives.net use W: \\servername\Vol
Their are more options switches that can help you.
Note that you must be logged into the netware
server for this to work.
