Comment:

I need to find a way to generate an alert and prefferably a SNMP trap on a netware server when the specific file has a last line with a specific text string in it. I searched through Novell's site and did not see anything, I did find a tool called snmp4NW that will turn Netware ALERTS into traps so now I just need to figure out how to generate the alert when the application in question logs the specific string to its log file.

You'll need to roll your own perl program with a tail feature, and trap sender. Nothing native exists to do what you need.
