hi
problem is, we have got a laptop, and we have to have windows NT on it
for various reasons, we had it working a few month back, with no
problems, until one day we got a virus on one of the PC's, which i got
rid of right away. this caused a thing to flash on the laptop, as it
is used for the main Anti Virus software we used, and everything is
done thur the laptop to update each pc on our network with the up to
date anti virus.so after this the laptop decided to be a pain, and did not allow you
to log on the network, and brough up the following error message:" error - tree or server cannot be found, please choose a
different tree or server"this got us all going here, and we have had the problem for the past
month and a bit, i have reformatted the hrd disk, and installed
everything back on again, but it still dont let me log on as anyone!
WHY?!thanx

You don't say what version of Netware you are running, or what network protocol. I'm going to guess, though, that you are using IPX, and recommend you look at the TID referenced below on trouble shooting this type of problem. As you will see, there are too many possible issues to make a guess with the amount of info you provided.
Hope this helps.

Like Nobody said, since you did not say what ver of the NW OS you are running, I can only guess. It sounds to me like your client is not pointed to the right Tree or the Context is wrong. If the NW client you are using has the Advanced button select it and double check the entries. If your NW client is coming up upon bootup it is seeing the Netwaork.
Underdog

Make sure when you install the client you slect the advanced install and choose what protocols your network is using. If you installed IP only and your network uses IPX/SPX it won't see the tree. But like underdog said, if you are getting the login screen for Netware than you are hittin gthe physical network. Also make sure you are using the most recent Netware client for your OS (4.83 SP1 I think).
