Hi there, i was just wondering if there was an easier way to install novel rather than the way i am doing it. The way I do it is I copy I386 folder from the 2000 instilation cd to the hard drive and then go into regedit and change the registry to look on the c drive for the files instead of the d drive. The problem i am having is that i am very buisy and very forgetful and sometimes i forget to do both and then when i install novel it doesn't work at all and i end up having to reinstall windows 2000 to fix the problem. If there is no easier way then has anybody come across this and know of a way to fix the problem. I have done this little mistake of copying the files on win 95, win 2000, and xp. There is one thing different with 98 and that is that 98 asks for the 98 instilation cd. the problem with that is once you take out the novell cd and it trys to continue it just gets all messed up eventually and you have to reinstall the OS. 2000 and Xp don't ask for the cd so you find out you messed up when you restart. When it restarts the login screen has nothing on it except the cancel button. so if you know an easier way or how to fix this problem it would be great. thanks

Sir, are you trying to load the Netware client on workstations, or are you trying to load Windows on the workstation, or both?

From wherever the client software is, CD, network server, etc.. There is a file named Setup.exe. start the setup and follow the instructions on the screen. For Windows 2K and XP use NW client ver 4.83. For your 95/98 workstations use NW client 3.32. 3.32 installs in the same manner as the 4.83 client. It has a file called Setup.exe. If you by chance have the clients on their original CD's I beleive they will autoboot and start the setup when the CD is placed in the drive.

I am trying to install NetWare 5.1 on a Gateway ALR 7200 Server. The server BIOS registers 255MB of RAM. However, NetWare CD software gives me the following message:
"This system does not have enough RAM to install NetWare. 65MB of RAM are available to the server but 95MB are required. It is recommended that you exit the installation by pressing ALT+F10 on the next screen."
Obviously, without enough memory, NetWare 5.1 installation abends.
Any suggestion?

This problem can be generated by creating the DOS boot partition on the NetWare host using a version of MS-DOS higher than 6.22.
DOS boot disks generated from Windows 95/98/Me/NT/XP should not be used to partition the hard disks that will be used by the NetWare server.
Another possible issue is if a DOS or Windows memory manager is already loaded in memory before the NetWare installation program is started. You may be using MS-DOS 6.22 (or 5) which is ok, but the autoexec.bat and/or the config.sys files of the media being used to bootup the DOS environment may be loading a memory manager such as QEMM, EMM386 or HIMEM in which case the NetWare software will not be able to manage the memory properly itself.
