Hello Everyone,
I am installing Netware 4.11.During the
process...after installing lan driver(3c90x.lan)
my machine hangs or it gives me an error....
No Such 3c90x board can be found
Server-4.11 -1553 : Module Initialization Failed
Module 3c90x.lan not loaded** I load this driver from floppy. While loading
it asks me for slot no.** I have dell WORKSTATION(precision 420).This
model has inbuilt nic cardPlease...help me! Is this happening becoz of slot
number, if yes then how to find the slot number
(Nic card is inbuilt and not in slot)If I
ignore...the installation does not proceed.Someone..please help me.I called Novell but they
are too expensive $300/Hr..Thankx in advance

Have you tried entering a made up slot number? If not, try it, I've got a feeling that it should return an error message telling you that that slot number isn't valid and then list available slot numbers for you to choose from.

Try running the diagnostic/setup program that comes on the diskette for the card at Dos, to see if it is conflicting with anything else in the machine. This will also confirm that your Drivers disk is really matched to your NIC.Normally when you load a LAN driver that requires a SLOT number, it is presented to you when you load the driver, and all you need to do is press ENTER to accept the suggested slot.

Ensure you have the LATEST drivers from 3COM. Even though the built-in NIC might be listed as a 3c90x, it will probably come up as a 3C918 or 3C920 Integrated card, so you need the latest drivers to be able to ID the card properly. You should be prompted for the SLOT number when switching back to the console screen and it should give you a choice of which one is free.

the above mentioned is our startup & autoexec.ncf files. our server name is LUISINE. PLEASE HELP ME.

I've been having problems with these NIC's in workstations connecting to our server. The client will establish a connection, but won't map any drives. The workstations do seem to connect to our one nw5.1 server, but there are problems with slow pings to internet and other tcp/ip computers. I suspect it's something to do with ipx/spx settings, but I haven't been able to fix it yet. Anyone else have any ideas?
