I'm taking too long to fix this problem. We have Nov4.11 and 7 laser printers. The printers have until now run on print servers. We now want to print to an FS 1800 Kyocera plugged directly into the network. I installed and set up the Kyocera software and can print via the browser and change settings also, I set up a new printer in NW admin and hooked it to an existing Queue. I have unloaded and loaded the print server and can see the printer in the list. The Novell server says the printer is not connected and when I try to print from a workstation the printer and the print queue on the workstation both say "Ready", but that's as far as it gets. I'm new to all this and I'm starting to go in circles with the Novell book and Kyocera software. The cries of "When will the printer be fixed" are getting louder and more frequent. Help! The smallest pointer may be all I need and would be much appreciated. Thanks.

ahh, Netware print queues...I remember them, sort of The trick with setting up printers in 4.1 is to use the print management software to do it. Using HP printers it would be jetdirect admin. Kyocera can be one of several tools depending on the model. FS1800 is one of the new ones. I think you should be able to do the config via the web interface. Look under Network settings for a Netware specific section. You can put names for queues in there and the printer will create them for you in NDS. If it's not in the web page you'll have to hunt for the kyocera admin tool. Ring up Kyocera otherwise. I have a feeling they'd be happy to help.
