Yes! This particular user at my office seems to have more than his share of problems. This one is craziest of all. All the users have Win2k sp3 with client for Netware 4.83. I found this users home directory on the server to be virus infected and all the files have since been healed. Since then, some of his files out of his 500 odds seem to be giving him a strange problem. If he tries to open those (ppt & doc) files over the network, the machine hangs and needs to be restarted. After restart client is unable to find the tree for full 5 minutes and if at all it does, he loses all his drive mappings. The problem is machine specific as I can login with his username from any other worksttion normally. Last time I did a couple of things on this users machine to make it work, like reinstalling the client, setting the card to "half duplex" mode etc and something worked. When this user again accessed some other corrupted file and again the client crashed, none of the earlier things that I did seems to work. The IP based applications on his workstation are working fine. Connection to Novell servers is pure IPX based. Installation of the latest client 4.83 SP1 doesn't help either. I have checked his local machine and home directory with two different Anti Virus programs...didn't find anything.
Anyone...anywhere..please??

What virus was in the files, is there a cleaner for it, and did you run it on the workstation? 9 time out of 10 the virus scan program cleans the files, but the computer remains infected until you run the cleaner.

first thing i would try is delete the users local profile on the win 2000 pc,copy the old one and rename it in case he has something in there, then reboot and log him in... that sure sorts some problems ive found, try that first
