Comment: we all have had enough of novell at my college, it constantly crashes, slows down, or makes life very sifficult for us. We have tried to get the admin to see just how pathetic and crap it is, but they don't listen to us. We already showed them how easy it was to 'hide' in the system, by doing that windows login trick so they don't know who is using the computer and so you can play games and what not without them knowing who you are, and they still don't listen. So as a final onslaught we want to hack the system to show them just how patetic it really is. We;re not going to do any damage, just get admin access, then send everyone a message using that send message thing saying something like this is how crap novell is. it just got hacked. I heard there is a program that can crack novell to get admin passwords? Its using 4.36 on XP pro.

Reply: (edit)A few points: 1) Any password cracking program is unrelated to the platform it's trying to hack. Any dork with enough time on his hands can guess a password. 2) Anyone can send a broadcast message from a NetWare client without having to access the server. You just have to know how and you obviously don't. 3) NetWare is the best program of its kind available. Any real administrator would have a hard time denying this, especially one who's been around for a while. 4) You want to see a pathetic piece of crap, homeboy? Go look at a Windows NT server. Or a Win 2K server with "Active Directory". That stuff gives s--- a bad name. Suck it up.

Reply: (edit)Yes! good words, Mark Pilkanis. Words that should be well heeded by children who "showed them how easy it was to 'hide' in the system, by doing that windows login trick so they don't know who is using the computer and so you can play games and what not without them knowing who you are" Children who can't figure out on their own how to do anything to the system that's not already allowed. Children who think that running scripts they don't understand against systems they don't understand makes them superior to the hard working people who keep their network running so it can be used for educational purposes. Children who think that wasting Mommy and Daddy's money at university by playing games is OK. Children who would be well served by learning something from this thread. Your school's network is there to assist in your education. If you feel deprived because it cannot serve another purpose, maybe you should turn your attention toward your education.

Reply: (edit)log in as normal go into control panels go into user accounts either make sure the guest account is on or make your own account log off pull the network cable out of the computer try and log on it'll ask if you want to log into windows as it can't find tree or server click yes, enter guest with no password, or enter the account name you created (or, enter admin with no password if the technicians were follish enough not to set one) Put the network lead back in Internet will now work. If you want to log back into your Novell account go into Start/All Programs/Novell (Common) then click Novell Login, and, login. You'll still be hidden from any scan attempts, because they will have to go through a few consoles to find out who exactly is logged in, by that time you could of reset the computer and done a runner... That's how we've been doing it recently. But since we got one of the techs passwords with this hack thingy majog we've been making accoutns inside of Novell and giving it all the trustee rights and so on.
