I've added a PC running XP Pro to a Netware 4.11 network. The problem I have is that the XP machine and the other machines (Win98) can't see each other to share files (Win98 machines all see each other). I don't want to use TCP/IP for file sharing so it is not bound to File and Print Sharing on the Win98 machines (we use it for shared internet access only). Here's the other pertinent info that I can think of:
1. Novell Client 4.83 SP1 has been installed on the XP box
2. Workgroup name is the same on all machines
3. NWLINK IPX/SPX/NetBIOS protocol is installed and enabled on the XP box
4. NWLINK NetBIOS has been enable and disabled with no change
5. XP and the Netware server seem to be getting along fine.
6. Protocols installed on the Win98 PC's: IPX 32-bit for Novell Client bound to Novell Client, IPX/SPX bound for Client for Microsoft Networks and File and Printer Sharing, TCP/IP bound to Client for Microsoft NetworksIf I bind the Client for Microsoft Networks to TCP/IP on a Win98 machine then the XP box can see it but file sharing over TCP/IP on a network with internet access? Must be a more secure way. Since only the IPX/SPX protocol is bound to File and Print Sharing on the Win98 machines I assume that they are using the IPX/SPX protocol. Can't the XP machine join the party? Any help would be appreciated.
