File and print sharing over router?

ok i have been messin 'round with this network 4 a LOOOOONG time, both computers use win 98...i always can acces the internet when i want, only the file sharing is intermitent :( i believe i have everything set up correctly, but it still doesnt 'always' werk. i am using a netgear router and it is configured corectly.as well print sharing NEVER has werked, it has picked the printer up b4, it just came up with some wierd network error. newayz any suggestions, help, comments...ANYTHING! thx. b.adams

It's fairly uncomplicted to toss out your network configuration and start over at each machine. WIN98, just right click NetNeighborhood, select properties, and Remove all the components except the NIC. Then restart and re-Add the components one by one. You may need the locale of your Cabs or the Win98 CD. Make sure you install File and Print Sharing for each PC's Net config too. I'm guessing your protocol is TCPIP or NetBEUI. Either one will work. To facilitate sharing put both computers in the same Workgroup. I'm guessing the NetGear is doling out IP addresses (DHCP) and is the Internet gateway?

Summary: you dont have to used netware 6 if you have windows just right click on network neighboorhood and click on file and print sharing... hope this helps ...
