I have an old Novell server (not sure about the version) hosting a DOS application which the client PC's use, all the PC's are windows XP pro SP2, they all work fine except two new ones I installed, after a while the DOS app hangs and only way out is rebooting, config settings are exactly as the other PC's even the client (3.9 I think). I have installed a new up to date Novell client still the problem persists, even a fresh install of Windows XP didn't help. I don't know much about novell so if anyone out there can help, I'll appreciate it tremendously.

Have you checked the "Advanced Settings" in the netware client properties. Is the client configured in the same way?
Maybe the problem is the "File Caching" and / or "File Commit" setting.
