After starting ConsoleOne error, I got this error 0x8884 Switched Virtual Circuit failed when clicking on my tree. Do you know if this is a rights problem? Please advise. Thanks.

Depending on, what version of ConsoleOne is in use, you will get this error message.
The version 1.3.3 has exactly this problem.
Upgrade to version 1.3.4 or higher should solve your problem.

Do you know how I can give someone authority to use rconj or freecon ? What I mean is where can I add his userid to allow him to remote access to server.

I have this OU, how can I block all users and all OR above me from browsing/adding objects to it? I am using Netware 5.1.

Thanks,
Paul

When using RCONJ, it's just easy.
Assuming, you have configured a password for rconag6 at the server console, you simply have to give this password to such users.

BUT CAREFUL:
If someone has direct access to the server console, also by using rconj, he or she can so a lot of things, out of your control. Only real administrators should have such rights.

You can simply add the above OU as a trusty of the OU, where your user related to and give it the permission you'd like.
This can be managed in ConsoleOne or NWADMIN32.

I am not clear on the 2nd part about blocking rights. What I mean is say I have OU is Company, then some other OUs under it for departments. So I want to block all users, including Admin, Organization Role from viewing OU = Accounting.

One more question on this, if I need to give a system operator rights to run a batch job to collect disk space on my server using NDIR command, can I just only give him Browse at Server level or I need to give him at OU level?

Thanks,
Paul

Oh, I suggest to never restrict Admins rights.
This is the only user, who can manage all tasks,
if something goes wrong.
You can add any OU as a trusty to one special OU and restrict the Object Rights including inherited rights.

Concerning your second question.
Here we are talking about file rights.
So that user needs file rights not object rights.

I have OU is company and like many OU underneath it for department. Then I have Company Organination Role and also Department Organization Role. How would I block a certain user from browsing my department OU such as Accounting? Problem is this user belong to company OR and in this OR, there are other users as well. So I dont think I can block this country OR. Not sure how to solve this problem.

I am using Netware 5.1

Thanks
Paul

How can I get a snapshot of ACL in Netware 5.1? What I mean is how can I get a list of rights , both NDS and File System for a group of users and also Organization Role.

If I only have 5-10 users, then maybe ConsoleOne is ok, checking 1 by 1. But what if there are several thousands?

Thanks
paul

Do you know if there is SYS and VOL1 backup, is it enough to recover from server crash? Or this is only data backup? What I mean can it recover system prior to crash?

Thanks
paul
