I have a dilema. We have a novell network in place (mixed 5.1 and 4.11 servers). We recently purchased a Win 2000 server. We would like to integrate it into our network so that our current users can access it's shares but we don't have a ton of money to invest. Please let me know if you have any ideas how this can be accomplished.

It sounds like you have 0 experience setting up and maintaining a windows based network. Your best investment would be classes or books or a consultant, so you can do it right, not something cobbled together with advice from support forums.

The company I used to work for had a similar setup. We used various NetWare servers and various Windows servers. Effectively what happens is that you have "two networks" running side by side. You have to create your usual domains with the Windows servers and there is no change to the Novell side. If you have Windows desktops at your company, then they should be able to see the Win2K server as soon as you set it up and create the domain structure. If you want to be able to login to both "sides" simultaneously all you have to do is keep the Novell password and the Win2K password identical. If you want to use the same NDS database for BOTH platforms, then you need something like NDS for NT or a similar program.

Hi. Since you are running Netware Servers already, I believe all your Workstations have Netware Clients loaded on them. On each Workstation, from the Network Properties, change the Primary Logon from Client for NetWare to Client for Microsoft. It will install if not already. It may ask you the CD on some 95/98. When it boots up, It will give the Windows Networking logon box then after that, NetWare logon Screen will appear.. You can avoid dual password by making the Password Identical.
