I have a Netware 4.11 server and a bunch of Win98 clients running Client32 3.1. This have been running for a year with both IPX and IP protocols loaded. The clients us IPX to talk to Netware. For this year, IP has been set to get a Dynamic address, but of course never got one (no DHCP server). Now, we are setting static IPs (and Gateway and DNS, etc), and all of a sudden about 1/2 the machines cannot find the Tree anymore. Put IP back to Dynamic...you can now login again. So, we reloaded Client32 with IPX only and all the machines worked....for a day or so. Now, they are back to not finding the tree. Again, set them back to Dynamic, they get a 169. address from Win98 and all works again.
Does anybody know what is going on here?
Thanks,
Jeff

Try adding NetBEUI on your network properties. We are using Novell Server 5, and I always add this(NetBEUI) to clients having win98/95 OS.

In my experience netbios hasn't helped, but there may be more than one solution.
If there are no novell servers higher than version 4.x then you don't need IP for client32 version 3.1. If you still need IP for some other purpose fine thats OK, but binding IP to Client32 won't get you anything. the 4.11 server can be your DHCP server if you want, even though the clients can't use IP to authenticate to 4.11
