I uninstalled a hotfix from my machine while trying to make it see my camcorder without realising how badly this could mess up my machine. I think it was hotfix 5. my machine is on service pack 4. It rebooted itself without asking me and now it takes 115 minutes to get to the login screen, 15 minutes to think about trying to login, then gives me a message saying it cannot login because the domain STRIDER (which is the name of my computer or somesuch) cannot be found.
How can I get around this? Most of the system seems to be starting up, just really slowly. I need to get into the machine so I can get to the microsoft site and reinstall the hotfix.

to add to that it's windows 2000 professional with Service Pack 4Free and the exact message is that that I cannot be logged in now because the domain strider is not available.
This happens in safe mode as well as normal mode.

If you haven't logged in yet (since the problem) then you can return the system easily to the 'last good configuration.'

I'm having the exact same issue with a client's computer. I have been scanning the internet for a fix. I'll post back here if I find something. The information above was useless in fixing the issue.
