Novell Client for Windows v.4.90A year ago I installed Novell Client software to help run IPX network. All was fine until recently, when I created separate user accounts on my computer, for the first time. Novell disregarded all my new settings except for the one where I turned the original "owner" account into a limited account. Now, I can't log in as anything but a limited user, or a guest. This gives me very limited access to my system and, furthermore, I am totally prevented from changing back the settings from inside WinXP. Novell's software is also totally unco-operative, in my eyes, or, at least, extremely user un-friendly.
Has anyone had to deal with this before? How do you solve it? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

This doesn't sound like it's related to Novell software in any way. You've somehow messed up your Windows user accounts and need to logon as an administrator or equivalent to fix it up.

The problem is I can't logon as the administrator of my system, because Novell says that user account doesn't exist. I know I didn't forget the password because I created the account the same afternoon the trouble started.

Sabotage is right.
Use the ERD Commander (by Winternals http://www.winternals.com) to boot your machine, reset administrator password on the XP machine, remove the ERD, boot and log into your XP (workstation only) and make all the required changes.
Good luck

You need to isolate the eDirectory login from the login to your XP system. Select the "workstation only" check box within the client, and try logging in that way. With that box checked, only the windows GINA is used for authentication, Novell does nothing at that point.
You may also want to try logging into eDirectory from another system, to ensure your eDirectory ID is correct. (Remember, the default account created within eDirectory is Admin, not Administrator.)
With some more experience, you will probably find the software more user friendly. It's not the simple 'point-and-click' that people are used to with Windows, but Windows can't match the power and features available with Novell.

it looks like you are using windows xp home edition instead of xp pro. xp home has very limited networking features and is not supported by the novell client. your best bet is to upgrade to xp pro.

Try login to workstation only.
When logged in to your windows system,
login to the netware server, by right click
on the netware client icon in systray and login
as admin with the appropiate password.
(Check for the correct contect in the advanced
section of the client)Paul
P.S.: If it woun't work, try a login from a dos box, drive f: , login [FDN user]
