Can't Find Tree - Multiple Switches

Hi all,
Our Novell 5.11 server is plugged into switch1 on our network.
We have just recently purchased switch2 and are intending to hook half our users up to it. We are connecting the two switches by using port24 on switch1 to port1 on switch2.
Users on switch2 can ping and see the network without any problems, HOWEVER they cannot log onto Novell. The tree cannot be found and we are fairly stumped.

Is this a managed switch? Are you solely IP or are you still running IPX? Are both enabled on the switch? I would double check the uplink config between the switches.

Yes managed switch.
Solely IP.
Both are enabled.
Uplink config seems ok, the network is accessible, just not Novell.

no slp blocking? If you connect the new switch directly to the server [no uplink] does the problem still exist? If so I would suspect defect equipment. Usually switches out of the box do apple talk and DECnet so why not ipx and ip?
