I'm using an XP Pro workstation with a Netware 5.1 Server.

I'm running client 4.83 but i have a little problem. When I enter my password at the Novell banner it returns the following message: "The tree or Server cannot be found. Chose a different Tree or Server. Would you like to try to login to WIndows ? "

I'm getting this error. If I browse for a tree and a server and that i give one (but still, there is already one configured) I'm able to login. But Itys like the client doesnt save the settings, even if they appear in the fields.

What to do ?

I uninstalled the client and reinstalled it. With the IPX protocol only. When the computer re-booted I entered the Login and Password, and i browsed the tree, server and context, for the first time. I logged in and from now when I login its really login-in. Without asking for Tree or Server.

Hope it could help someone else too.

We had a similar problem; it turned out to be the 3com NIC drivers. I had to change the default packet from "autodetect" to 802.1, and manually tell it the network #. We did not have this problem with other NICs.

If you are running IP only on your clients, make sure have SLP configured on your clients. Or make sure your DHCP server is issuing the correct SLP information.

I had the same problem. Ended up setting up a directory agent, and handed out the slpda address from the dhcp server.
