I purchased a used lap top for my daughter at a pawn shop. I was warned of the difficulty I may incounter but thought that I could get around the problem.
Once the computer is turned on, it goes directly to user name and enter password. How can I by-pass this or log on anyway. The software is Novel Client systems

Install a fresh os by starting the machine from an installation cd like XP, 2000, 98SE etc.
Another way is much more complex. If you have a copy of ERD commander start it, reset the administrator password, reboot the machine, log in locally and remove the Novell client.

this can be done easily with an app called EBCD (do a search for this on google)download it and then unzip it. it will give you an .iso file burn this to cd and then boot from it it will change the admin password just follow the steps.
