Btrieve/Pervasive

I've recently installed a 5.1 server and was notified by our sysadmin that the BTRIEVE.NLM needed to be version 6.15.451 so we can run a something called surgi-server. I'm new to the environment and to 5.1 so I'm trying to do some research on BTRIEVE.NLM version 7.51.001 that, I believe, came in SP4 for 5.1. Does anyone know of any possible conflicting issues or how I might be able to test this for conflicts?

Are you doing research for the possibility of using BTrieve ver 7.x to replace your 6.x on the Surgi-Server? If so I don't think I would waste the time. Just because of what the Surgi-Server is running. Which is Medical type Applications more than likely. Usually if applications call for a specific version of BTrieve there is a reason for it, usually stability is one main point. There are a lot of other reasons, but stability is one of the top 2. To answer the last part of your question about testing for conflicts, this is best done in a Lab enviornment that duplicates your production network as close as you can get it. If you blow things up, NO HARM - NO FOUL. Keep learning dude, knowledge is power especially in networking. Good Luck!
