I have an old server running Novell 3.2 on a BNC network, and want to update it to a HUB with CAT 5...what do i need to do....can anyone help me?

Not to discourage you but upgrading to a hub is a waste of time. 10bt is 10 base t whether its a hub (star bus) or bnc (lineal bus). If you considered going to a 100mb switch and cat5 cable then you would have a performance gain.
After doing the cabling, install the switch, replace all the cards in the workstations and the one in the server [making sure the card in the server is supported by netware and has netware drivers], all you have left to do is install the server nic driver, update the autoexec.ncf and you are ready to rock and roll.

what would need to be changed in the autoexec.ncf file? i am assuming that it would be a port setting or similar?...and before i do changes in it...i would back this file up...just in case.
As a note the nic has both bnc and RJ sockets...a combo nic if you like...will i need to still install a new driver?

Not a major change. Just the usual load and bind statement are used with the name of the drivers. You say your card has both then use the RJ45 connector.

Both client and server setups are a bit more complicated. On the client you need to make sure in the card driver listing that rj45 not bnc is selected. In the autoexec.ncf I would suggest you run the netware setup for the nic card or use Install.nlm to remove and correctly setup the driver. If you are using the same card I would suspect you might not have to make any changes at all. Try that first and see if the correct card interface is detected.
Sure is a lot of work/cost for no performance gain.

i have tried to plug the server into the hub, using the rj connections, but the server is not recognised by the clients, can anyone send a sample of the autoexec.ncf file showing the bind etc?....also is there anything else i might be missing???
