Additional Harddrives on Novell 5.0

Comment:
I have a Novel 5 Server with a 20Gb SCSI HDD. I added two additional 36GB SCSI HDDs to the same bus as the first one. The Monitor and the "List Devices" command on the server console shows the two additional HDDs. I am not able to use this space on the new HDDs. When I use the NWCONFIG utility to add volumes, I cannot do it as I cannot see the new HDDs. Earlier, I did not have the SP installed when I added the HDDs. Now I put in the SP6a and still have the same problem.

You will have create the NW partition on the new disks to use them in Netware.

I cannot create any new partitions as the system says that there is no free space available.

Sounds like a bus read issue.
scsi drives tend to come preconfigured with termination enabled. This should have been disabled before they were installed. You should have a active terminator at the end of the scsi bus. Don't use drives as terminators. All drives including the original should be checked that termination if off or only enabled on the last drive [assuming no active term at the end of the cable]

Controller must be terminated and the hdd at the end off the cable must be terminated as well. No other drive must not be terminated.
If you use a scsi controller with more than one connector and use the second connector for another scsi hdd, you have to terminate this as discribed above.
Check, whether there is already a partition on the drive !!!

Thanks, Paul. The HDDs were just purchased and I assumed that no partitioning was done. Thanks for the tip. Deleted all partitions and now I have the use of the free space.
